FILTHY EATZ! – PHO CAFE (SILVER LAKE) by yourboychrisc

Last night my girlfriend wanted Pho. For those who don’t know, Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup and there are probably 654,386,170 Pho restaurants in LA. I had been hearing about how good this particular Pho restaurant was for a while and decided to check it out.
I had actually been by there once before but there was a line. On principle i would never wait in a line for Pho, so I drove to K-Town and came back at a less busy time. Right away you can tell that it’s not your typical Pho restaurant. The place is decorated in kind of a modern style, obvious that they cater to a different crowd. The food was pretty good. I had a rare steak (thinly sliced beef) noodle soup and my girlfriend had cold noodles with lemon grass beef and egg roll. They don’t have as high of a noodle to broth ratio as some of the more “authentic” Pho spots and i feel like their meat is actually lower quality than most Pho i have had. Their broth however is darker than most and VERY good. I had a couple of bites of the cold noodle dish and it was really good also. I would definitely suggest this place if you are in the area, but it’s not worth a drive across town if you have a local Pho spot.

I decided yesterday to go and check out the famous Cheese Store of Silverlake that has been a buzz from its huge selection of Wine & Cheese. But what I was happy to find out is they offer a small menu of sandwiches made with fresh ingredients and top notch cheese.

While waiting for my sandwich to be made I tasted some of the free samples of cheese & olive oil w/ bread. This small but well stocked store is a must to visit if you are cruising through the sunset junction area.

I decided I would dive into a turkey panini which ended up being very delicious, topped with sun dried tomatoes, avocado, sharp cheddar and a lovely organic spread. After one bite I knew this one was a winner.

My boy Saavy has been blowing this spot up for a cool minute.
YOGURTLAND! This place has great frozen yogurt. You grab a bowl and there are about 10-15 different flavors of frozen yogurt to choose from.
They have mad bomb toppingz!
“Gimme yo cocktail, FRUIT!”
We got filthy with it!
Saavy loves it too much…
They have locations all over LA, we hit the La Brea spot.

I’m a big fan of Korean BBQ. I eat it on average about once a week. This weekend i hit a spot called Yi Ssi Hwa Ro. The place is great, and it’s all you can eat!
Koreans serve you appetizers/side dishes called banchan! Different places have diferent ones. Kimchi, radishes, sometimes seaweed or an interesting potato dish! YUM!
They also bring you a delicious, savory pancake!
At Korean BBQ restaurants you cook the meat on a grill at your table. It’s fun and you dont have to wait for them to cook your food…
They serve you some rice paper on the side that you can wrap the meat in with a little lettuce and bean curd sauce, and it is really delicious.
Go check em out!

FILTHY EATZ – WURSTKUCHE by yourboychrisc

You might have heard of this spot, it opened downtown about 6 months ago. It’s a german sausage house.
I’ve always supported the idea of “Jack of all trades, master of none”. I feel that it’s better to do one thing well rather than many things in mediocrity. Wurstkuche only serves sausage dogs, and they serve them properly, on a bun with your choice of sauerkraut, onions, or peppers. They have fries that they serve with a variety of dipping sauces. I had a pesto dip and a bleu cheese and bacon dip.
They have a really large selection of sausages and some really exotic ones.
I had alligator and pork.
The dining room is a large hall with banquet tables.img_0096
There is a bar where they serve REALLY BIG beersimg_0097
Some girls there were eating a big dick cake!img_0105
Did i mention that they serve really big beers?

Paru’s Indian Vegetarian Restaurant
Took the lady to dinner tonight at Paru’s. This place is great – traditional Indian cuisine.
I ordered the Tanjore Double – Mini Masala Dosa, Idli, Vadai, Uppuma, vegetable curry, Sambar, Chutney
This is the “Punjab Glory” – Poori, vegetable curry, peas & rice, Papad, Raitha
They do the best mango lassi i have had in the city
Paru’s is awesome. Its a vegetarian restaurant where i can eat a whole meal and not even realize that there is no meat. Check them out!
